Paul Smakman is the head of IKE, the Institute for egg quality management. He has been active on the field of poultry and eggs since 1973. His many years of working experience in the poultry sector with regard to inspection and services led him to the decision to make his expertise available for the various links in the commercial poultry industry. History Mister Smakman started his career as an inspector of poultry and eggs at the Ministry of Agriculture. In 1981 he was appointed chief inspector of the department. In 1988 he made the switch to CPE (Inspection institute for poultry, eggs and egg products) He has been the managing director of CPE for 24 years. On behalf of the Ministry, CPE has been responsible from 1988 until halfway 2012 for the inspection of fulfilling the marketing standards legislation. Moreover, CPE has been involved for over 10 years in various servicing inspection activities. An example of this is performing IKB (Integrated Quality System) inspections in Holland and abroad.
